This final spike was driven into the Canadian Pacific Railway on November 7, 1885 in Craigellachie, British Columbia by philanthropist Donald Smith signalling the end of a tedious and problematic construction of the country's first transcontinental railroad. The Canadian Pacific Railroad was built between 1881-85 connecting British Columbia and Eastern Canada. A commemorative sign marks the spot of the last spike. Show All
