The ancient English town along the Stour River is home to the oldest cathedral in England and dates back to prehistoric times. The Kent city's Canterbury Cathedral was a destination for Christian pilgramages after the 1170 murder of Saint Thomas Becket and was an inspiration for the Geoffrey Chaucer book "The Canterbury Tales."
