One of the oldest covered bridges in Europe dates back to 1333 and is known as Kapellbruecke in its German-speaking home of Lucerne, Switzerland. Much of 669-foot Chapel Bridge located where Lake Lucerne meets River Reuss had to be reconstructed after a 1993 fire.
