The 3,000-foot tall rock formation in the Sierra Nevada Mountains within Yosemite National Park is extremely popular with rock climbers and at one time was thought to be impossible to scale. El Capitan often referred to as "El Cap" was pictured on the 2010 quarter for the "America the Beautiful" collection and is the largest pillar of granite in the world. It is one of the most recognized and popular landmarks in the park.
