One of the most famous castles in the Czech Republic is located in the village of Karlstejn, situated just 18 miles from Prague. Karkstejn Castle was built from 1348-1365 at the request of Czech King and Roman Emperor Charles IV as a place to keep his treasures including coronation jewels and religious artifacts.
