Formerly called Navajo Indian Reservation, the more than 27,000 square miles of land owned and governed by the Navajo Native American tribe runs through Utah, Arizona and New Mexico. Navajo Nation was created by the Treaty of 1868 and ruled by Navajo Tribal Council since 1923. It contains spectacular natural and man-made wonders such as Canyon de Chelly National Monument, Monument Valley, Navajo National Monument, Chaco Culture National Historical Park, Antelope Canyon, Petrified Forest National Park, Four Corners Monument and Lake Powell.
