The largest cacti in the United States are located in this 91,442-acre national park surrounding the Arizona city of Tucson. Saguaro National Park was created in 1994 and was designated a national monument in 1933. It is named for its main feature of the enormous tree-sized Saguaro cactus that only grows in the Sonoran Desert and can live as long as 250 years. The cactus' white bloom is the Arizona state flower. Many other types of cacti like Engelman's prickly pear, Pinkflower hedgehog, Fishhook barrel, and Staghorn cholla also grow throughout Saguaro National Park. Show All
