Best Griffith Observatory Day Trips & Things to Do

This Los Angeles landmark that towers 1,134 feet above sea level atop Mount Hollywood in Griffith Park has had more than 75 million visitors since it opened in 1935. Griffith Observatory contains Samuel Oschin Planetarium, the 200-seat Leonard Nimov Event Horizon theater, the glass-walled Gottlieb Transit Corridor, public telescopes and numerous exhibits. The art deco observatory was closed in 2002 for a $93 million renovation and reopened in 2006. The site's Cafe at the End of the Universe is run by world-renowned chef Wolfgang Puck. Show All
