Hamburg is home to the infamous Reeperbahn, a red-light district where in the early 1960s the fledgling Beatles played at many clubs. John Lennon famously quoted, “I might have been born in Liverpool, but I grew up in Hamburg.” Beatles fans shouldn’t miss the Beatles-Platz, a Reeperbahn plaza paved black to look like a vinyl record that has statues of the band.
