Best Kensington Market Day Trips & Things to Do

The culturally diverse Downtown Toronto neighborhood features a wide variety of produce vendors, meat markets, bakeries, clothing stores, cafes, restaurants and eclectic shops. Kensington Market was originally a parade ground for cavalry troops after Canadian soldier George Taylor Denison bought the land in 1815 and began being populated by European immigrants who constructed Victorian houses - many of which still stand today. Many Jewish settlers migrated to the neighborhood in the early 1900s and established a market. Notable landmarks are Bellevue Square Park, Number 10 Fire Station, Tom's Place and the statue of actor Al Waxman. Kensington Market is a National Historic Site of Canada. Show All
