Madison Square Park, which is surrounded by wealthy homes and luxury hotels, was designed by William Grant and Ignatz Pilat in 1870 and underwent a $6 million renovation in 2001 with a new paving, lighting, landscaping, benches a restored fountain and a reflecting pool.
