Best The Alamo Tours & Trips

The San Antonio historic site of the 1836 Battle of the Alamo is the most visited attraction in Texas welcoming more than 2.5 million people annually. The Alamo was established in 1718 as a Roman Catholic mission by Spanish priest Antonio de Olivares and Payaya Native Americans. Nearly 200 men fighting for Texas' freedom from Mexico held down the then-closed mission for 13 days from Feb. 23 - March 6, 1836 from more than 1,000 Mexican troops. While the Alamo fell, the fight for liberty lived on in the famous saying "Remember the Alamo" and the Texas Revolution fighters later prevailed during the Battle of San Jacinto on April 21, 1836. The 4.2-acre Alamo grounds have a memorial, chapel, museum and Wall of History mural. It is a U.S. National Historic Landmark. Show All
