  • Special Notes

    • Start Early: Due to their popularity, Banff and Jasper National Park can be very busy in the summer. Parking lots can become full and lines longer during the middle of the day. Plan to arrive early or late in the day to avoid busy times (11am - 3pm). You might even spot some wildlife at these times, with animals more active earlier in the day to avoid the midday heat.
    • Banff Gondola:
The Banff Gondola is wheelchair accessible and easily accessed by those who are elderly or families with strollers and young children. We can put one of the seats up in the gondola car to accommodate strollers and wheelchairs.
The gondola car itself comes off the track to load and unload passengers, leaving all our guests with as much time as they require to get in and out.
Please note: Though our facilities are wheelchair and stroller accessible, however the boardwalk is not as it consists of 368 shallow stairs each way.
Dogs are allowed as long as they are kept on a leash and are well-behaved. Dogs will be counted as a passenger (i.e. 3 people and 1 dog are able to ride in one gondola car). Bikes are not permitted on the Banff Gondola and there are no mountain biking trails to ride down.
The best times to avoid crowds are anytime before 11:00am or after 5:00pm.
Free Gondola Shuttle: Due to the ongoing construction, parking at the Banff Gondola is very limited. Guests are strongly encouraged to leave their car behind and ride the FREE shuttle. The shuttle departs every 15 minutes from the Banff International Hotel and Evelyn's Coffee World located on Banff Ave between 10:00am - 6:00pm. Last shuttle departs the gondola at 6:15pm.
The local bus arrives at the Banff Gondola every 40 minutes. The cost is CAD 2.00 per person and passengers will need to provide the correct change as no change will be given on the buses.
The cost of a taxi ride from the Banff Gondola to downtown Banff costs approximately CAD 10 to 15.
There is a taxi phone at the end of the Explore Rockies counter located in the Lower Terminal which is a direct line to the local taxi company in Banff.
    • Banff Lake Cruise The cruise is weather dependent.
Please allow approximately one hour for this excursion; we recommend you arrive at the boat house 30 minutes prior to cruise. The Lake Minnewanka boathouse is wheelchair accessible with access ramps leading down to the dock. We have the Minnewanka II boat that is available to take wheelchairs onboard.
The Banff Lake Cruise is located on Lake Minnewanka Loop - a short 10 minute drive from the town of Banff.
Rates and hours of operation subject to change without notice.
Availability is on a first-come, first-serve basis and specific departure times cannot be guaranteed without pre-purchased tickets.
Unfortunately, for safety reasons, we are unable to accommodate for a stroller on the boats. They can be left at the boat docks.
The Black Anchor Snack shop is available for a variety of snacks and to-go food and drink items right off the lakeshore. Washroom facilities are available at the parking lot and there are also plentiful picnic and recreational areas around Lake Minnewanka.
It's always a good idea to dress in layers with a waterproof jacket as weather in the mountains can be unpredictable. It is always a little colder at the lake, however all our cruise boats are heated and covered. We recommend bringing sunglasses, a hat, closed-toe shoes and sunscreen.
    • Attraction tickets are non-refundable.
    • The safety of our guests is our biggest priority. If we experience severe weather that we feel will put our guests at risk we will reschedule tours. Such unusual, severe weather would include lightning, blizzard conditions, severe rain or extreme winds.
    • Please note that the waiting time during peak hours, high season (summer) and holidays maybe a little longer.
