Home to countless legendary inventions, businesses born from crowded co-working spaces and behind garage doors, Silicon Valley offers an intriguing narrative full of double-crossings and rags-to-riches stories.
This tour will take you through the origin stories of Apple, Google, IBM, and many previously unrecognized technologists that paved the way for the advent of the hardware we carry with us and use every day.
First, we'll stop to 'check-in' at the Facebook Thumbs Up Sign on Hacker Way. Of course we couldn't forget a visit to the famous Google Campus too. We'll stop and explore the gift shop and grab authentic Google tech and swag too.
A highlight for many, we'll next make an extended stop at the one-of-a-kind Computer History Museum (requires proof of vaccination for everyone 6 years of age and older) . Taking you through the evolution of computing, from the abacus to the complexities of artificial intelligence and self-driving vehicles, you'll feel like a tech history pro after your visit. We'll also explore the multi-tiered, newly constructed Apple Visitor's Center which is also a fully-stocked Apple Store before returning to San Francisco.
Brief Itinerary:
7:30 - 7:50am: Make your way to the pre-arranged pick-up spots. We recommend you arrive at least 10 minutes early.
8:30 - 8:45am: Our first stop on this whirlwind trip will be to 1 Hacker Way, home to the tech giant, Facebook. You'll be sure to get a lot of 'likes' from putting your thumbs up and snapping a pic in front of the Facebook sign! While we can't disrupt the employees, you'll get to see where all the magic happens from the outside. Who knows, maybe Mark Zuckerberg will pass by!
9:30 - 10:15am: Next we'll explore Googleplex, the technological playground which makes up the Google Campus. From a volleyball court, life-sized chess, on-site haircuts and food options galore, you might find yourself getting envious of these 'Googlers' (as employees are affectionately known).
Check out the expansive Googleplex and the Google Merch Store. Unfortunately closed on Saturdays, for tours running Wednesday, Thursday & Friday you'll be able to take home some colorful Google swag.
10:30 - 12:00pm: Our next stop will be the Computer History Museum (requires proof of vaccination for everyone 6 years of age and older), where you'll take a walk through four decades of collected computing technology - including one of the world's first computers. This extensive and detailed museum will immerse you in everything computers, from graphics to games.
12:30 - 1:30pm: Now it's time to grab some food and see what daily life in Palo Alto looks like. Depending on the recommendations from your guide, you’ll have a wide-range of food options to choose from.
One of the 5 most expensive cities in the U.S., Palo Alto houses some of the most educated people in the country. If time permits, we will swing by the humble HP Garage for more tech tales on how the city began its path to fame and fortune.
2:00 - 3:00pm: At our final stop you'll experience Apple's newly-opened Visitor's Center. Complete with interactive stations to explore their new technology, a world-class cafe, and a fully-stocked Apple store, this unique building takes you to the forefront Apple's new releases. No one is allowed to roam the corporate headquarters in person, but instead grab an IPad and explore the top-secret campus via virtual reality.
4:00pm: Once we've completed our full day retracing the steps of today's tech leaders, we'll head back to San Francisco. On the way, be prepared for a green and scenic ride. We'll pass the protected Crystal Springs Reservoir & San Andreas Lake before making it back in time for dinner in the city.
