The history of Saint Emilion goes back to medieval times; the jurisdiction is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Centre for its natural landscape. St Emilion is made up of fascinating Romanesque churches and ruins stretching all along the steep and narrow streets. The Romans were the ones who originally planted the vineyards in Saint Emilion - as early as the 2nd century. After a short introduction about the history of the domain, we'll take a short tour through the technical installations of the winery, ending with an explanation of the oak barrels and the aging process. Your tour of the winery will conclude with a tasting of the Chateau wines revealing the different characteristics and aromas of the wines produced here. After the winery tour, we'll travel to the village of Saint Emilion. By far one of the most beautiful in the area, it has retained most of its 13th century monuments. As you stroll through the village, listen to your guide as he narrates the incredible story of the monk Emilian who became a Saint. But that's not all! The history of the village is so rich and absorbing, you may even hear tales of the Templar Knights, the 100 Years War, the French Revolution, or WWII.
