Itinerary

Visit the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex to learn everything about space travel

Upon arrival at the Kennedy Space Center, Gray Line guests will have the opportunity to have a brief meet and greet welcome from an astronaut. This is an added bonus only for riders of Gray Line transportation, however, please note this is a complimentary added bonus that can't be guaranteed, but happens most days only with Gray Line! At the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex you will learn everything about space travel. During the narrated NASA bus tour, you will find yourself standing inside the launch control room and looking at an actual Saturn V rocket - the largest rocket ever to fly! You can also take pictures of the shuttle launch pads. With a little luck, you might even see a space shuttle there! Also at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, enjoy the Shuttle Launch Experience. It replicates the sights, sounds and feelings of a shuttle launch, an incredible journey of launching into space and orbiting Earth aboard a Space Shuttle. Guest crew members strap in and go vertical for launch in a one-of-a-kind, motion-based simulator, the only realistic simulation of a launch ever created. The 5-minute experience sequence culminates with a breath-taking view of the Earth. After the bus tour, sit back and enjoy an IMAX movie. While at the visitor center complex, immerse yourself in Space Shuttle Atlantis. The world’s most comprehensive attraction devoted to the space shuttle, Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex’s new Space Shuttle Atlantis brings visitors nose-to-nose with the priceless Atlantis spacecraft as only astronauts have seen it before – with payload bay doors open as if it were floating in space. More than 60 interactive, touch-screen experiences and high-tech simulators invite guests to “be the astronaut,” bringing to life the people, passion and patriotism behind NASA’s 30-year Space Shuttle Program as well as the complexity of the engineering marvel that launched the Hubble Space Telescope and built the International Space Station (ISS). Guests can conduct a virtual EVA, or extravehicular activity; practice docking to the ISS; extract cargo from the payload bay; create sonic booms and glide to a landing on the Re-entry Slide; experience the sensation of floating in space; explore a high-fidelity replica of the ISS; virtually mate Atlantis to the external tank; kick up a virtual chemical reaction to launch the shuttle; get an “X-ray view” of Atlantis’ interior; experience an orbital sunrise; strap in to the sights, sounds and sensations of a shuttle launch; take the helm at the shuttle cockpit, and much more. This is the best expansion Kennedy Space Center has ever offered and gives you yet another reason to come visit. Why not choose to stroll by a scale-size space shuttle, look at a moon rock or try space ice cream? This is a day of fun for the whole family! The tour also includes a 30-minute airboat ride to discover the beauty of the swamps. Look for exotic plants, flowers and wildlife such as the main inhabitant of the swamp.... the alligator! We transport you over to the St. Johns River where you will board the airboat for 30 minutes of high speed adventures gliding across the waters. From nature to space, this tour offers something for everyone.
