Itinerary

Escape the city on a lovely day trip from Vienna to Wachau, a picturesque valley along the Danube, and enjoy sweeping views of mighty castles, impressive monasteries and a breathtaking landscape. After picking you up in Vienna we'll travel first to Krem, a lovely town on the banks of the Danube river. In the winter months, we'll have a short break in Krems, while in the summertime we'll drive through the historical city centre. From here we'll pass by the ruins of Durnsein castle before arriving at Spitz, where we'll board our vessel. We'll sail upstream to Melk. Along the way enjoy teh stunning views of Wachau and, if you wish, lunch aboard our boat, or you may eat lunch later at the Melk Abbey. Lush vineyards shape the landscape of the Danube Valley and reach right down to the banks of the blue Danube river. Gentle hills and green woods take turns in letting small hidden villages come into view. Upon arrival in Melk we'll board our bus and drive to the nearby Benedictine Abbey. This impressive baroque building was awarded the prize "Best Historic Destination of the World" together with the Wachau in 2008.
