Belgium's capital and largest city also is an important destination for the European Union as the organization conducts most of its business there. Brussels was settled around 580 when Saint Gaugericus built a chapel on an island in the River Senne. The city today has nearly 90 museums and some of the best architecture in Europe. Most of the city speaks French, however, Dutch is another common language spoken. Popular attractions include Grand Place, Manneken Pis, the Atomium, Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula, Royal Palace, Cinquantenaire Triumphal Arch, Royal Museums of Fine Arts and the Brussels Theatre.
