Considered to be one of the best of its kind in terms of acoustics, the Hungarian State Opera House was built in the late 19th century in the Neo-Renaissance style, with baroque flourishes. Flanking the main entrance are sculptures of two of Hungary's most prominent composers: Ferenc Erkel and Franz Liszt. The lavishness of the interior - don't miss the marble staircase and the enormous bronze chandelier - rivals that of Palais Garnier in Paris and La Scala in Milan. Opera season runs from September to June. The opera house is also home to the Hungarian National Ballet. Show All
