This 186-mile long stunning crystal blue lake between Utah and Arizona is visited by more than two million people annually as part of Glen Canyon Recreation Area. Lake Powell is the second largest man-made lake in the United States, was produced by the flooding of Glen Canyon from the Glen Canyon Dam beginning in the 1960s and named after the Colorado River's 1869 explorer John Powell. Miles of sandy beaches, colorful red-rock formations, countless activities and more than 90 canyons make this site a top vacation destination. Fodor's Travel named the lake one of "The World's 20 Most Beautiful Lakes" in 2013. Show All
