Lake Titicaca is unique because of its considerable size, depth and altitude; it is considered by some measures to be the largest lake in South America and the highest navigable lake in the world! Visitors are intrigued by the Uros people who live on artificial islands made of floating reeds, and indigenous culture permeates Taquile Island, where knitting of the spectacular traditional textiles is performed exclusively by men. Possessing dazzling aquatic biodiversity, threatened species such as the Titicaca water frog and the flightless Titicaca grebe are only seen at this lake. Show All
