Over the weekend we went on a tour with CHD to the West Rim of the Grand Canyon.
Pros include a comfortable charter bus w/ a restroom to and from the experience, an affordable fee of $78 (w/ $10 unexpected tip which I’ll talk about late
..r) through tours4fun.com, complimentary bottled water and snacks, a very kind tour guide named Harry who was very pleasant and confirmed with me the night before the trip with a text of where he should pick us up.
The cons included the shuttle being about 15-20 min late in which I had to text to ensure they were still coming. Luckily Harry immediately confirmed they were! Another con included no option to include a decent lunch. The only lunch offered was more suitable for a child with what looked like a pb&j sandwich, a bag of chips, and juice box. Lastly, the biggest con was the stop at the Hoover Dam. I’ve been on stops to the Hoover Dam that actually included entrance to the Dam itself to walk around and take photos. This tour just includes a stop to walk the Mike O'Callaghan - Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge which is actually always free to do. I’m sure why the tour promotes this as Grand Canyon/Hoover Dam tour since our $78 didn’t go towards that?
Last con of the trip includes the last minute request for a $10 tip which was not promoted when we booked and not every one carries cash. I also don’t think it’s appropriate to assume $10 is the tip each guest wants or can give.
Other than that, the bus driver got us back earlier than expected and was a safe driver which was appreciated. Harry also managed the trip well and the visit was fun! Read full review
