Learn how real pirates lived and see their treasures at this collection of artifacts discovered in the hijacked Whydah English slave ship that wrecked in 1717 off the coast of Wellfleet in Cape Cod by its captain "Black Sam" Bellamy. He was said to have been returning with an abundance of gold and silver to see his love Maria Hallet of Eastham, Mass. Bellamy and 143 of his 145-man crew died from the accident caused by a storm. Ocean explorer Barry Clifford found the Whydah in 1984 and many of its contents including cannons, coins, jewelry and many more unique items to the Whydah Pirate Shipwreck Museum. Show All
