Itinerary all around Jordan in 8 days
Tour Jordan with professional licensed guides. Amman is the capital of Jordan with a population of over four million. Amman is very popular with tourists because of its liberal and westernized outlook. The Roman theater is huge, and very well preserved, it could hold up to six thousand people. The Amman Citadel has been occupied by many civilizations over the years. The temple of Hercules, the Umayyad palace, and a Byzantine church, are just some of the buildings you can find here. There are plenty of archaeological sites, with arches and tombs, walls and stairs, to be explored.
The Dead Sea is the lowest point on Earth, and full of healing minerals that are good for the skin. It is said that the warm soothing waters of the Dead Sea will sooth both body and soul.
Jerash is the site of the ruins of the Greco-Roman city of Gerasa. Jerash has been inhabited since the Bronze Age.
Ajloun is famous for it ruins. The Ajloun Castle sits on the site of an old monastery. The traffic from Damascus and Egypt was controlled from the castle.
Madaba is known for its mosaics from the Umayyad and the Byzantine periods. There is a mosaic of the Holy Land that is from the Byzantine, it is a very famous picture.
Mount Nebo is the mountain that is mentioned in the bible as the place where God granted Moses a view of the Holy Land.
Karak has a famous crusader castle. It controlled the trafic on the Kings' Highway, and prospered from the tolls they charged.
Petra, one of the famous seven wonders of the world. It was first occupied by the Nabataens over 2000 years ago. They left a rich inheritance in the form of the facades, temples, and a Roman theater. There are also royal tombs, burial chambers and places of sacrifice.
Wadi Rum placed in the middle of the desert, the Bedouins reside here. They live in camel haired tents, but drive modern vehicles.
1st day: Arrival to Arava border of Eilat or transfer from the Amman airport.
Meeting and assistance by a member of our staff at the Arava border. You will be transported to a hotel in Amman. Overnight at the hotel.
2nd day: Amman / Desert Castles / Amman
Breakfast. Morning departure to the eastern desert to visit the Umayyad castles of Azraq, Amra and Kharranah. Return to Amman. Free afternoon at leisure to discover the downtown area of Amman on foot. Overnight at the hotel.
3rd day: Amman City Tour / Dead Sea / Amman
Breakfast. Morning tour of Amman, visiting the Roman Theatre, the Citadel, the archaeological and Folklore museums and the modern parts of Amman. In the afternoon, we depart to the Dead Sea, for a swim in its warm, salty waters at the Dead Sea Spa Hotel. Return to hotel in Amman for overnight.
4th day: Amman / Jerash / Ajlun / Amman
Breakfast. Morning departure to visit Jerash, one of the best preserved Greco-Roman cities in the world with its theatres, temples, churches and colonnaded streets. Proceed towards Ajlun to tour the 12th century Saracen Castle built by one of Saladin’s lieutenants in the campaign against the Crusaders. Return to hotel in Amman for overnight.
5th day: Amman / Madaba / Mt. Nebo / Kerak / Petra
Breakfast. Drive southwards along the Kings’ Way to Petra, visiting Madaba's St. George's church, which contains the oldest mosaic map of the Holy Land and Mt. Nebo with its endearing monastery overlooking the Dead Sea. Drive through the magnificent scenery of Wadi Mujib to Kerak to visit the Crusader Castle. Continue south to Petra. Overnight at hotel.
6th day: Petra
Breakfast. The tour of Petra starts on horseback and gradually unfolds the mysteries of the Rose Red City with its spectacular treasury, Royal Tombs, burial chambers and high places of sacrifice. Return to hotel for overnight.
7th day: Petra / Wadi Rum / Amman
Breakfast. Visit the Wadi Rum Desert in a 4x4 vehicle for two hours and explore its moon-like landscape. This is where the film “Lawrence of Arabia” was shot. If time permits, you can take al short visit to Aqaba on the Red Sea to do some snorkeling and enjoy the sea. Return to Amman. Overnight in Amman. (an extension in Aqaba can be arranged for a supplement, please contact us for details).
8th day: Departure
Breakfast. Transfer to the Arava border, and assistance with departure formalities
