Get out of the city for a bit with a day trip from San Francisco to discover the gorgeous redwoods of Muir Woods and visit the hippie town of Sausalito!
We'll pick you up right from your hotel and head out across the Golden Gate Bridge on a lovely journey to discover two of the most scenic destinations on the California coast. We'll traverse rugged coastal mountains as we pass through Marin County while enjoying enchanting views of San Francisco Bay.
Then we'll enter the land of giants as we drive by towering redwoods, arriving at Muir Woods. This gorgeous natural wonder may look familiar as the Endor scenes from Star Wars: The Return of the Jedi were filmed here. Join us in wandering through ancient groves and along magical pathways as we introduce ourselves to the mighty California Sequoias. We'll spend 1¼-hour here exploring, more time offered than any other tour company.
After walking among colossi, we'll journey back to the coast to Sausalito, a hidden gem of Northern California. A sophisticated yet quaint village on the coast, Sausalito offers visitors a variety of shops, galleries, and delectable restaurants to explore. Relax in a cafe or stroll along the waterfront past the endless array of housebouts that fill the harbor.
If our one hour stop here is not enough for you, extend your stay and upgrade to include a return ferry ticket from Sausalito to San Francisco, which you'll be free to use whenever you like on the day of the tour.
Upgrade:
USD 11.50 - Take Blue and Gold Fleet's Sausalito ferry on a return trip across the beautiful San Francisco Bay.
Ferry Schedule
Effective 24 April 2017
Due to storm damage on the main access road into Muir Woods, the National Park Service (NPS) and Caltrans imposed vehicle restrictions on this road which meant that we could no longer use our normal motor coaches for this service.
The NPS was expecting to have the road repairs completed by May 1st, so for the last month we have been operating this service on a temporary basis using minivans, and while this provided access to Muir Woods, it was never a permanent solution, but was acceptable for the month of April.
We have now been informed that the repairs to the road to Muir Woods will not be completed until later in the year, so
effective Monday April 24th 2017 we will no longer be running the regular Muir Woods and Sausalito tour.
Instead of Muir Woods, we will be offering all guests an alternative redwoods experience –
The Henry Cowell State Park Redwoods Tour.
This tour will depart daily at 9am from our Post St location and take guests to Henry Cowell State Park, approximately 75 miles south of San Francisco. Guests will have approximately 90 minutes to explore the park at their leisure before rejoining the bus to return to San Francisco.
On the return, the bus will stop in the picturesque city of Davenport for approximately 45 minutes so that guests can do some shopping, purchase snacks and enjoy the sights of the Pacific Coastline.
The bus will use the Pacific Coast Highway so all guests will be treated to spectacular views of the coastline for the duration of the tour.
As a gesture of good faith for all of your guests, the price for this tour will be the same as the Muir Woods tour, we will not charge passengers anything extra for this tour and there are no limits to the number of seats available, bookings must be made so that we have seats reserved for your guests, but you can sell as many seats for this tour as you are able.
Guests may also walk next door to Roaring Camp Railroads which is included as an option with this tour as well as included as part of our California Coast & Redwoods Tour and visit the General Store and grab lunch or a snack at Georgie's Cookhouse Restaurant.
Optional Extras
We will be offering all passengers for this tour the opportunity to upgrade to the California Coast and Redwoods tour that includes the Roaring Camp Steam Train and BBQ lunch. The additional price for this tour is $48 for adults and $33 for children, (retail price $110 adults and $69 children).
